Hamas Releases Video of Israeli-American Man Held Captive in Gaza Strip
Hamas has released a video of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American man held captive in the Gaza Strip since October 7 during Israel’s war on the enclave. The video, passed on to the US and Israel by Qatar, shows Goldberg-Polin criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not doing enough to secure captives’ release.
In the video, Goldberg-Polin, who is missing part of his left arm due to an attack with grenades, calls on the Israeli government to secure his release. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum has also urged swift action to return all captives and ensure the safety of those still held.
The release of the video has sparked protests in Israel demanding more efforts to bring home captives and end the war in Gaza. Goldberg-Polin has become one of the most recognized captives in the conflict.
Since his capture, thousands of Palestinians have been killed and wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza, while dozens of Israelis remain held captive. The situation has added to the already tense relations between Israel and Hamas.
The Israeli government has faced mounting pressure to negotiate for the release of captives as protests continue to grow in support of bringing them home. As the conflict in Gaza shows no signs of abating, the calls for action to secure the release of all captives only intensify.
