Man Arrested for Shooting Girlfriend, Assaulting Others in West Warwick
In a shocking incident that took place on Saturday morning, a 42-year-old man identified as Jason Jackvony has been apprehended for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the arm. The incident unfolded on Capron Street in West Warwick, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to authorities, the woman managed to escape the scene of the shooting and sought refuge at a neighbor’s residence. Distressed and frightened, she claimed to have been physically assaulted by Jackvony. However, the nightmare for the victim did not end there, as the accused broke into the neighbor’s house and continued the vicious assault on her, as well as on two other individuals residing in the home.
When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman with a gunshot wound to her arm. Thankfully, her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and she was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
In light of the severity of his alleged crimes, Jackvony is now facing a staggering total of 29 charges. These include assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to commit murder, first-degree domestic sexual assault, and using a firearm while carrying out a crime of violence. Additional charges slapped against the assailant range from breaking and entering to possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Furthermore, Jackvony is accused of possessing a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation and possession of 19 large-capacity magazines, leading to multiple counts.
Given the grave nature of the offenses, Jackvony has been ordered to be held without bail. He has also been issued a no-contact order with the victim to ensure her safety moving forward. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, at which point the legal proceedings will determine the course of action for justice and punishment.
The incident has left the West Warwick community deeply shaken, as they grapple with the alarming rise in domestic violence cases. Authorities are urging anyone who might be a victim of domestic abuse or who suspects someone they know may be experiencing abuse to come forward and seek help from the appropriate channels.
