Milwaukee man charged for gun negligence leading to 5 year old’s death


Milwaukee Authorities say a man has been charged within the demise a 5-year-old boy who discovered a gun and killed himself. Courtroom documents released Sunday by the Milwaukee County District Lawyer’s Office show Michael Moore, 25, is charged with neglecting a toddler leading to loss of life. Moore can face as many as 25 years in jail.

Police say the kid’s mom stated she woke up to the sound of gunfire Tuesday and located her dead son in the living room. Police discovered a .40 caliber Glock 27 positioned by the boy’s leg, in accordance with CBS Milwaukee affiliate WDJT-TV. The gun had eight unused cartridges and the chamber held one spent casing, the station added.

Moore informed police he carries a firearm all over the place, aside from work. He stated that on June 17, he put the loaded gun on a living room shelf. Police say Moore admitted a baby might have reached the gun by climbing on a sofa underneath the shelf.

Moore allegedly admitted to police that he has a lock and gun case for the gun, but was not utilizing it, WDJT-TV reported. His preliminary listening to shall be held July 1. It wasn’t instantly clear whether or not Moore had a lawyer.
