SpaceX is gearing up for another exciting launch as the company has rescheduled the lift-off of a batch of Starlink internet satellites to Saturday night. The Falcon 9 rocket was originally supposed to launch on Thursday but was called off before fueling the vehicle. The new target launch time is Saturday at 10:30 p.m. EDT from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
The launch, which will be SpaceX’s 30th Falcon 9 flight of 2024, will see 22 Starlink spacecraft being deployed. This will also mark the 20th dedicated mission to building the Starlink megaconstellation. With over 6,000 Starlink satellites already in orbit, SpaceX has plans to deploy an additional 12,000 with a further 30,000 awaiting approval.
Viewers can watch the launch live on SpaceX’s X account, with coverage starting five minutes before liftoff. If successful, it will be the 15th launch and landing for this particular booster. The first stage is expected to return to Earth for a vertical touchdown on a drone ship in the Pacific Ocean. This launch is another step forward for SpaceX’s ambitious Starlink project, which aims to provide high-speed internet access to underserved areas around the world. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting mission.
