Israeli Navy successfully intercepts drone entering Israeli airspace from Red Sea
In a recent incident, the Israeli Navy has shot down a drone entering Israeli airspace from the Red Sea using their advanced “Naval Dome” system. The target was detected by both Israel Air Force and naval units, leading to the successful interception of the drone.
According to reports, the drone was assessed to have been launched from Yemen by the British security firm Ambrey. Ambrey also observed AIS interference off the coast of Eilat and neighboring Aqaba in Jordan, believed to be caused by electronic warfare counter-measures.
To intercept the drone, Israel utilized its seaborne missile defense system known as the ‘C-Dome’ Defense System. This marks the first time the system has been used to shoot down a drone approaching from the Red Sea, highlighting the effectiveness of Israel’s military technology.
The incident is particularly significant as Eilat has been a frequent target for drone launches by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who use these drones to show support for Hamas. The interception of this drone demonstrates Israel’s commitment to safeguarding its airspace and protecting against potential threats.
Overall, this successful interception showcases Israel’s ability to defend against incursions into its airspace and the importance of advanced defense systems in maintaining national security.
