In an effort to alleviate the workload on their contractors and employees, WWE has decided to pre-tape some of their shows around major holidays. As the Christmas holiday approaches, next week’s SmackDown will be pre-taped, granting the wrestlers and crew members a well-deserved night off.
Despite not being broadcasted live, fans can still expect an action-packed episode as the pre-taped show was recorded on December 15, immediately after this week’s live broadcast of SmackDown. The upcoming episode will feature a series of thrilling matches and segments that are sure to excite wrestling enthusiasts.
One of the anticipated matches includes Santos Escobar going head-to-head with Bobby Lashley in the United States Championship title shot tournament. With the help of Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza, Escobar manages to defeat Lashley and secure his place in the finals. Fans can also look forward to Dragon Lee defending his NXT North American Championship against Butch, bringing an intense showdown to the ring.
AJ Styles, no stranger to the limelight, will be cutting a promo expressing his desire for a shot at Roman Reigns’ title. However, this momentous occasion is unexpectedly interrupted by Randy Orton and LA Knight. Fortunately, General Manager Nick Aldis steps in to resolve the issue, booking a future Triple Threat match between Styles, Orton, and Knight.
Adding a touch of holiday cheer to the show, there will be a Christmas-themed match featuring Bianca Belair, Zelina Vega, Mia “Michin” Yim, and Shotzi facing off against Damage CTRL. The festivities take a surprising turn when Kairi Sane is attacked by Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre during the match, adding an element of unpredictability.
The United States Championship title shot tournament continues with Kevin Owens defeating Carmelo Hayes, earning himself a spot in the finals. Owens shows respect to Hayes after the win, displaying good sportsmanship and camaraderie.
AJ Styles is not finished for the night, as he also has a match against Solo Sikoa. However, the match ends abruptly when Roman Reigns interferes and attacks Styles, sparking a chaotic brawl involving Orton, Knight, and Jimmy Uso. Ultimately, it is LA Knight who stands tall at the end, leaving fans eagerly awaiting future developments.
