Fernando Alonso impressed with performance at Saudi Arabian Grand Prix practice sessions
Fernando Alonso has expressed his satisfaction with his performance during the practice sessions for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, despite remaining cautious about his prospects for the rest of the weekend. The two-time world champion topped the timesheets in FP2, setting the fastest lap of the day on soft tires.
Alonso was consistently near the top of the timesheets throughout the practice sessions, showing good pace in his Alpine car. However, he remains cautious due to the differences between practice and qualifying sessions. The Spaniard is unsure about Aston Martin’s long run pace for Saturday’s Grand Prix, highlighting the need for continued improvement.
Meanwhile, Alonso’s teammate Lance Stroll also had a positive outing at the Jeddah circuit, describing it as fun to drive. Stroll showed good pace during the practice sessions and will be looking to carry that momentum into qualifying and the race.
Alonso’s strong performance in practice has given Alpine hope for a competitive weekend in Saudi Arabia. The team will be working hard to fine-tune their set-up ahead of qualifying, as they look to secure a strong grid position for the Grand Prix.
