Easter Sunday Celebrations Around the World
Easter Sunday was celebrated with reverence and joy across the globe as Christians commemorated the resurrection of Jesus in Jerusalem.
In India, Christian families in Purulia, West Bengal honored their loved ones by lighting candles and placing flowers on their graves. Meanwhile, Pope Francis led Easter Mass at the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square, where he prayed for global peace and made calls for a cease-fire in Gaza and a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine.
In Ukraine, clerics lit the holy fire during the Easter religious service in Kyiv, while in Israel, Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa led the Easter Sunday Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, a site believed to be where Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected.
In a significant event, King Charles III of Britain made his first public outing since being diagnosed with cancer by attending an Easter service at Windsor Castle. In the U.S., festivities included an Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York and a sunrise service at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.
The day was marked by a blend of traditions, prayers, and celebrations as Christians around the world united in spirit to observe one of the most important events in their faith.
