England being the World Cup winner in 2019 has become the toughest team. To be a player in England’s team is not that easy. After the test series with West-Indies, England had 3 ODI matches with Ireland recently. These matches have allowed several players to play for the matches. Since many players are currently practising for their upcoming test series with Pakistan, the team has opened entry for newcomers.
Tom Banton is one of those players who is trying to force himself by Eoin Morgan’s to get into a proper position in the team. He admitted that being in number 4 role in England’s one day team is quite unnatural.
He could only able to contribute 11 and 15 runs in the 1st two matches with Ireland. In the 3rd ODI, he could only be able to make 58 runs.
After the end of 2nd ODI, he said that being an opener, it would be pretty difficult for him if he tries to go ahead of Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow. Their partnership is quite fantastic and somehow most destructible opening for the team.
He further added that playing for England was his dream. He doesn’t know if it is his last game for the team but he will enjoy every bit of it. He has never played in the 4th position in life but he is trying to get used to it.
The player is only 21 and he has started comparing himself with other big players. Hope he will strive hard and show us some big scores for the team.
