Ford Recalls Over 100,000 Vehicles Due to Rear Axle Issue: Jala News
Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of over 100,000 vehicles due to an issue with the rear axle that could potentially increase the risk of a crash. The recall specifically affects certain 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design.
The problem lies with the rear axle hub bolt, which has the potential to fatigue and break, resulting in damage to the axle hub splines. This damage can lead to serious consequences, including the vehicle rolling away when parked without the parking brake applied or experiencing a loss of drive power.
In total, approximately 112,965 vehicles are affected by the recall, and Ford is taking the necessary steps to notify owners. Owner notification letters will be mailed on January 29th, guiding owners on what actions to take. If owners experience any symptoms related to rear axle breakage, such as clicking or rattling noises, they are instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer for an interim repair.
To address any concerns or inquiries, Ford’s customer service can be contacted at 1-866-436-7332, with the recall number 23S65. Additionally, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Safety Hotline is also available at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), and further information can be obtained by visiting the NHTSA’s website at www.nhtsa.gov.
Ensuring the safety of its customers is Ford’s top priority, and the company is committed to resolving this issue promptly and efficiently. Vehicle owners are urged to take the necessary steps outlined in the owner notification letters to address the rear axle problem and prevent any potential accidents or further damage.
